About This Service

High Intensity Support Services

Some individuals require higher levels of support to meet their complex needs, and our high intensity support service is here to provide that support. Our team of experienced support workers and allied health professionals collaborates with you to develop a comprehensive support plan that addresses your unique needs and goals.

High intensity supports are delivered by appropriately trained staff who have the skills, knowledge, and experience to safely support participants with complex care requirements. This includes complex personal care, wound management, PEG feeding, ventilator management, and behaviour support plan implementation.

Whether you require assistance with personal care, complex behaviours, or medical needs, we’ll provide you with the support and resources you need to live safely and independently in your own home.

High Intensity Activities We Support

Complex personal care including high-intensity hygiene and grooming
Subcutaneous injections and insulin management
Enteral feeding — PEG and nasogastric tube management
Complex bowel care and urinary catheter management
Ventilator management and tracheostomy care
Wound management and complex skin integrity care
Seizure monitoring and management
Dysphagia management and mealtime support
Behaviour support plan implementation
Complex medication administration (within scope of practice)

All high intensity supports are delivered by staff with the appropriate training, competency assessment, and qualifications required under the NDIS Practice Standards for High Intensity Support Skills Descriptors.

All high intensity supports are delivered by staff who hold the required qualifications and have passed competency assessments aligned with the NDIS High Intensity Support Skills Descriptors.

Comprehensive Support Planning

We collaborate with participants, families, allied health professionals, and Support Coordinators to develop comprehensive, goal-aligned support plans that reflect individual needs.

Consistent Support Teams

We prioritise consistent staffing for high intensity participants, ensuring support workers are familiar with each individual’s routines, clinical needs, and personal preferences.

Allied Health Collaboration

Our team works closely with allied health professionals including registered nurses, OTs, physiotherapists, and behaviour support practitioners to coordinate safe, integrated care.

Behaviour Support Integration

Where required, we implement approved Behaviour Support Plans developed by registered Behaviour Support Practitioners, ensuring safe and respectful positive behaviour support.

Who We Support

VHCC provides high intensity support to participants across a range of complex disability types and medical needs. All supports are delivered by appropriately trained and assessed staff.

Complex Physical & Medical Needs

Participants requiring clinical personal care including wound management, PEG feeding, tracheostomy care, ventilator management, and complex medication administration.

Acquired Brain Injury

Specialist high intensity support for participants living with ABI, including cognitive and physical rehabilitation support, behaviour support plan implementation, and daily living assistance.

Complex Behavioural Support Needs

Support for participants with complex presentations requiring Behaviour Support Plan implementation, delivered by trained staff working alongside registered Behaviour Support Practitioners.

Progressive Neurological Conditions

High intensity support for participants living with conditions such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other progressive neurological conditions.

Compliance & Standards

NDIS Practice Standards for High Intensity Support

High intensity supports are subject to specific requirements under the NDIS Practice Standards. VHCC operates in full compliance with these requirements, ensuring participant safety, quality, and dignity in all high intensity support delivery.
